My Story
From Symphony to Studio
My journey into visual art began during my pregnancy with my second child, Flora. After an injury forced me to step away from my career as a professional classical oboist in Boston, I spent years searching for a creative outlet—something that allowed me to express depth, beauty, and purpose beyond myself.
It started with a simple paint-by-number, which quickly ignited a obsession with color theory and raw expression. I taught myself to mix custom shades using only primary colors, filling canvas after canvas. Now, nearly three years later, creating art is a daily ritual I share with my children as we grow together.
My work is deeply connected to tactile, sensory experiences. Years of spending hours a day meticulously carving bamboo oboe reeds translated naturally into the precision of linocut printmaking. To capture the coastal landscape, I use piped heavy-body acrylics to mimic the 3D blooms of Cape Cod hydrangeas, resin finishes to bind natural collages, and hand-poured, toxin-free soy candles that feature my original art and scents inspired by the Cape.

What Inspires You?
Beyond the music and the sea, my primary inspiration starts right at home with my family.
My children’s unfiltered enthusiasm—their delight over a favorite food, an adventure, or even a cozy piece of clothing—is contagious. Watching the world through their eyes reminds me to create art that jumps off the page and sparks that same pure, feel-good joy.
Outside my studio, the Cape speaks to me endlessly. I am constantly moved by the changing mood of the ocean: how a shift in weather transforms deep ocean blues into translucent sea-foam greens and white-capped waves. I also draw from the gardens on Cape Cod, where energetic, sunlit flowers feel as if they have their own stories to tell after a long day watching the coast.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Art by Buccino
My vision for Art by Buccino is to build a modern, sensory coastal lifestyle brand that continues to weave art, family, and home into everyday life. As my children grow, I envision growing this brand alongside them—expanding our collection of coastal home goods, scents, and wearable art while keeping hand-crafted authenticity at the center of everything we do.
Long-term, my goal is to deepen connections within the Cape Cod community and beyond: hosting immersive art workshops, collaborating with local makers, and bringing the feel-good warmth of coastal living to homes nationwide. Above all, the future is about continuing to compose visual melodies that help people anchor into their happiest memories.
